Maintenay

Maintenay is a commune of 390 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Pas -de- Calais, in the Nord -Pas -de -Calais. It belongs to the district of Montreuil and the Canton of Campagne- lès -Hesdin.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the right bank of the Maintenay authie, which forms the border of the Somme department here, a few kilometers from its mouth in the English Channel. The seaside resorts of Berck and Fort -Mahon -Plage are located approximately 20 kilometers west of Maintenay.

Neighboring communities of Maintenay are Buire- le -Sec in the north, Saint- Rémy -au -Bois in the east, in the southeast Saulchoy, Argoules in the south, Nampont the southwest, Roussent in the west and Boisjean in the northwest.

Attractions

  • Church, whose choir and transept are under monument protection since 1926.
  • The Mill of Maintenay, originally from the 12th century, has been restored and converted into a small museum which can be visited in the afternoons during the summer months. It is milled locally baked bread and flour.
