Maisod

Maisod is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Maisod is located at 520 m above sea level. M., about 17 km northwest of the town of Saint- Claude ( straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, on a high plateau between the valley section of the Vouglan in the west and the forested chain of the high Jura in the east.

The area of ​​7.39 km ² large municipality area ( with Seeanteil 10:22 km ²) comprises a section of the French Jura. The western boundary runs approximately in the middle of the reservoir Vouglan. History

The territory of Maisod been inhabited since prehistoric times, and during the Roman period. Was first documented in the 12th century Church of Maisod. The village together with the church and two locks was in 1477 by troops of King Louis XI. destroyed. Together with the Franche -Comté Maisod came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Population

The village is located off the major thoroughfares, but is easily accessible from the main road D470 which leads from Lons -le- Saunier to Saint -Claude.
