Maison militaire du roi de France

The household troops of the King of France ( Maison militaire du roi de France ) were the Guard troops of the Ancien Régime.

The royal household troops covered a wide body of troops: The spectrum ranged from small, purely ceremonial pomp Garden to battle-hardened field regiments of infantry and cavalry. Unlike the rationally planned Guard Corps of the Napoleonic Wars, the troops were home, which was historically grown structures, which by no means all arms had a corresponding elite unit. They ranged outside of the ordinary lists of regular troops.
