Majid Musisi

Magid Musisi Mukiibi (also Majid Musisi written; born September 15, 1968 in Kampala, Uganda, † 13 February 2005, ibid ) is considered one of the best Ugandan football players. He was the first Ugandans, who played in a European professional league. His most famous nickname was Magic Magid.

Career

Top star in Uganda

Magid Musisi grew up in Mulago, a suburb of Kampala where he started playing football. His strong goal instincts did not remain long undiscovered, and after another year at Pepsi FC 1984 he came to the professional club SC Villa, in which two years later he had his Erstligadebüt and at this time also international was. A year later he was the age of eighteen to twenty-eight gates leading scorer in the league. Until 1991 he repeated this feat twice and shot the first player to total over one hundred top-flight in Uganda. Magid Musisi was again with 28 goals this season on the verge of breaking Jimmy Kirundas league record of 32 goals in a season, but was already four games before the season ends his move to Europe. After the native success, he went to France, where he had signed a contract with the second division side Stade Rennes for $ 120,000 transfer fee.

Europe

As the first Ugandan professional footballer Musisi played in Europe. When the little club relegated a year later from the Süper Lig, he went back to his former club SC Villa in Uganda.

End of career and death

After winning in three years at SC Villa only two minor trophies, Musisi finally moving in 2003 to Kampala United.
