Makamba Province
Makamba is the southernmost province of Burundi. Its capital is also called Makamba. The province is bordered on the east by Tanzania and to the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Lake Tanganyika.
The population density in 1990 was 100 to 150 inhabitants per km ². Makamba has an area of 1959.60 km ² and a population of 549,000 in 2007.
The Agriculture, Forestry consists of growing areas and livestock and to the east of grass savanna with forest islands. In the western shore area on Lake Tanganyika there are also fishing and cultivation of cotton and oil palm. In the north Makambas there are also smaller coffee -growing areas in the south bananas and vegetables are grown.
Makamba is divided into six districts Kayogoro, Kibago, Mabanda, Makamba, Nyanza -Lac and Vugizo
