Make-A-Wish-Foundation

The Make-A -Wish Foundation is an internationally active non-profit organization that has the free fulfillment of heart's desire of seriously ill children set a goal. Here, the children are as good as all wishes fulfilled, unless the desire or the fulfillment of which would endanger the health of the child. The wishes of the child can the organizers of relatives or friends be communicated.

The first child, the by Make-a -wish, a wish was granted, was the cancer-stricken Christopher James Greicius, whose heart's desire was to be a day policeman. On April 29, 1980 him this wish was fulfilled by his mother and two police officers, among others, with a helicopter ride with a patrol car. The three people decided to be given to the possibility of wish fulfillment and other children. For Make-a -wish was founded in 1980 in the United States. In Phoenix (Arizona ) and the receptionist has today and, over time, in 36 countries, each with the same purpose, launched national organizations were set up by Make-A -Wish (as of 2011). The organizations are working with 25,000 volunteers and financed by donations. By 2013, about 300,000 requests were fulfilled.

In June 2008, the German national organization " Make-A -Wish Germany eV " was founded. It has its headquarters in Hamburg.

National organizations there is, inter alia, also in Austria and Switzerland.

Since the year 2010, in which the Make-A -Wish Foundation celebrated its thirtieth anniversary, which is held annually on April 29 of a year worldwide, " World Wish Day" celebrated and used as an opportunity to the work of Make-A -Wish to draw attention.
