Makita
Makita is a Japanese company that manufactures power tools. It has production facilities in Japan, China, the U.S., the UK, Romania, Brazil, Canada and Germany. The range includes petrol, electric, cordless and pneumatic tools, stationary woodworking machinery and garden equipment.
History
The company was founded in 1915 by Mosaburo Makita as Ankerwicklerei and engine repair shop in Anjo, Japan. Since 1977, Makita is active in Germany. In 1991, the hamburger chain saw manufacturer Dolmar was bought.
Since January 2011, Makita has moved its German headquarters from Duisburg to Ratingen and owns and operates a logistics center and a Service Department.
Market segments
Makita falls through a large spread of market activity: While the gasoline engine and electric tools are attributable to the higher-value market segment, the small tools of the trade mark (including bits and drill) mainly in the form of sets in the lowest segment of the market are offered.
Production
Makita produces its over 850 comprehensive range of equipment at ten locations in Japan, USA, China, UK, Germany, Brazil, Canada and Romania.
