Maksim Mrvica

Maksim Mrvica ( May 3, 1975 in Šibenik, SR Croatia) is a Croatian pianist.

Life

His mother Slavica and father Karmel were unrelated to classical music. However, they supported him. It was not long before his talent recognized and he was accepted at the State Music School in Šibenik. Among his early teachers counted Marija Sekso. In this instructive time in 1990 was the war in Croatia. In 1993 he participated for the first time in a competition in Zagreb, from which he emerged as the winner. Then he studied at the Music Academy in Zagreb, where he was taught by the famous Croatian pianist Prof. Vladimir Krpan and 1998 his thesis under the tutelage of him. In the same year he enrolled for a year of study in Budapest with Professor Laszlo Baranyayo. There was still studying in Paris in 2000. During the same year he recorded his first album, titled record gestures. As an award he received the Porin, which is like the Classical BRIT Awards Croatia. In 2001 Maksim met Tonci Huljic, also a musician and composer who introduced him to the impresario Mel Bush. On meeting Maksim he was immediately impressed by his charisma and the first recorded crossover album, The Piano Player, 2003 was a great success. In it, he combines classical music with rock, pop and techno elements. In early 2006, he released his third album, A New World. He graduated appearances including in Salzburg, Vienna, Geneva, Budapest and St. Petersburg. Mrvica has composed numerous pieces for the Croatian Television ( HRT), he also worked together with the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra. Maksim is married to his childhood sweetheart Ana. The couple has a daughter, Leeloo.

• 2002 Porin Award for Best Classical Artist
• 2003 gold for The Piano Player in Malaysia, China, Indonesia
• 2003 Platinum for The Piano Player in Taiwan, Singapore and Croatia and Double Platinum in Hong Kong
• 2004 Platinum for Variations I & II in Taiwan.
