Malaita Province

The Malaita Province is located in the southeastern part of the Pacific island nation of Solomon Islands. It is bordered to the west by the provinces of Guadalcanal and Central, north of the province of Isabel.

For the province include primarily the homonymous island of Malaita, the island Maramasike and the islands of the remote atolls of Ontong Java and Sikaiana, and the Roncador Reef.

The area of ​​the islands of Malaita province amounts to 4225 km ². According to the census of 2009 there lived 137,600 people. In the north- west of the main island of Malaita ( 3885 km ²) is the provincial capital of Auki.
