Malapert is an impact crater on the lunar front side near the South Pole, southwest of the crater Scott and northeast of Cabeus. The elongated, irregularly shaped crater is eroded. The interior, which is most of the time in the shade of the situation in the South Pole is near, furrowed by numerous follow-up strikes.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 by the Belgian Jesuit and astronomer Charles Malapert.
