Action

London 1910. Anarchist Errico Malatesta, the Italian living here in exile. Due to revolutionary activities in Ancona, he was first banished to the island of Lampedusa. Errico is a member of the Italian noble family of Malatesta. The social conditions under which the poorer people have to live in London in the early 20th century, Malatesta point to the need for its social-revolutionary activities. In London, he builds a group of anarchists. They discuss the possibilities of implementing their theories into practice and planning some actions, but repel Malatesta because of their violence. Rebellion is repugnant to him. He sees himself as a revolutionary who does not want to react with violence his ideas. Increasingly he withdraws from the group and want to have anything more to do with the group.

Reviews

  • Lexicon of international film: The historical background of anarchist ideology and action also reflects a piece of modern history. Unexpectedly compelling: Eddie Constantine.
  • Time: Lilienthal's film has something Brittle, bulky, he escapes again and again. It is foggy and crumbly like a nice old photo that is its quality and risk.
