Malaysia tiger ( Panthera tigris jacksoni )

The Malaysian Tiger, Malaysian Tiger Jackson or Tiger (Panthera tigris jacksoni ) is a subspecies of tiger. Only in 2004 was confirmed by genetic analysis that there is a distinct subspecies ( subspecies ). Previously, these tigers were considered to be representative of the Indochinese tiger.

Features

The Malaysia - Tiger has a king tiger very similarly shaped skull. The size of the animals complies with 255-275 cm (males) and 230-255 cm (females ) of the Indochinese tiger. The weight of max. 120 kg (females ) and max. 190 kg (males) is analogous. The coat of the Malaysia -Tiger is like the Indochinese Tiger redder than other subspecies of this kind, the expression of the typical strip is weaker because they are shorter and narrower than other subspecies usually.

Occurrence

The Malaysia - Tiger comes on the Malay Peninsula and parts of Malaysia and thus the extreme southern areas of Thailand before. This subspecies is not to be found in the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, located on the island of Borneo, where Tiger in modern times were not demonstrably native.
