Malchow (Amt)

The Office Malchow is located in western part of the Mecklenburg Lake District Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is bordered to the northwest by the district of Rostock and the west by the district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim.

In office Malchow eight municipalities and the city are Malchow ( Headquarters ) joined forces to do their administrative business. The Office was formed on 1 January 2005 from the former Office Malchow - country and the formerly official free Malchow. Concurrent with the formation of the Office merged the previously independent municipalities Adamshoffnung, Grüssow, Kogel, Rogeez and Satow merged to Five Lakes, further Lexow was incorporated into Walow.

Agriculture and tourism dominate the forests and lakes rich area of the Office, on the north has interests in the natural park Nossentin / Schwinzer Heath. Among the larger lakes in the area include office Drewitzer lake as well as parts of Lake Plau, of Fleesensee and Kölpinsees. The Müritz -Elde waterway that runs through the office area, connecting the Great Lakes Müritz, Kolpin, Fleesen and Plau. The far- projecting into the Plau Plau Werder peninsula belongs to the office belonging to rural community Alt Schwerin. The lake levels are at 62 m above sea level. NHN, the hilly country around Malchow reach a maximum of 122 m above sea level (near Five Lakes Kogel ).

Through the office area, the Federal Highway 19 leads from Berlin to Rostock with the connection points Malchow and Waren (Müritz ) and the Federal Highway 192 from Wismar Waren (Müritz) to Neubrandenburg. The railway stations in Alt Schwerin, Malchow and Silz lie on the branch railway line Waren (Müritz ) Parchim.
