Malcolm Evans (computer programmer)

Malcolm Evans ( * April 1944 in Romford, England ) is a British game developer that stands out for the computer games 3D Monster Maze (1982 ) for the Sinclair ZX81 home computer and Trashman (1984 ) for the ZX Spectrum was known.

Evans makes a degree at Portsmouth Polytechnic and then worked for the company Marconi, where he worked on satellite technology. In the 1970s he joined the Smiths Aviation, where he developed hardware for jet engines.

In 1979 he moved again, this time for the Sperry Gyroscope in Bristol, where he worked in a workgroup for microprocessors. Here he used the Zilog Z80 and Intel 8088 processor and programmed it into machine language. The company closed in Bristol in 1981, but at this time Evans had been given by his wife for the 37th birthday of the ZX81. Malcolm developed 3D Monster Maze on this machine to test what the computer could afford.

In a club for classical guitar in Bristol Evans met in 1981 John K. Greye and together they founded the software company JK Greye software. They developed together several computer games for the ZX81. In the spring of 1982 they separated and Evans founded his own company, New Generation Software, with which he continued to develop software for the ZX Spectrum.
