Malix

Malix was a municipality in the district of Chur Walden, District Plessur in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. On 1 January 2010 the municipalities Churwalden, Malix and Parpan merged to community Churwalden.

Geography

Malix is 4 km ( straight line ) south of Chur in Churwaldnertal on the road to Lenzerheide. The municipality covers the left flank of the lower Churwaldner Tales from Talfluss Rabiusa ( lowest point in the Passugger mill, 760 m above sea level. M. ) to the ridge of the northern spur of the Stätzerhornkette with the Dreibündenstein. There the highest with 2282 m point is, in the southwest of the territory, at the Windegga achieved. In addition to lying on a hillside bar Haufendorf Malix to the municipality includes the hamlet of Cross ( north, on the road to Churchill ) and Spina ( south-west, at the same Tobel ), and some mountain pastures.

In 1997, 42 % of the municipality were used for agriculture, the forest took a 47%, settlements 5%. As unproductive were 6%.

Neighboring communities were to 2009, the city of Chur, Chur Walden, Scheid and Domat / Ems.

Description: In blue golden ear of corn with stalk, beseitet of two six-pointed golden stars. The ear is reminiscent of the characteristic of Malix cereal, the two stars refer to the membership of the county Churwalden. Ten colors of the Federal Court.

History

Located in the historical transit route from Chur to northern Italy, but only mentioned in 1149 as Umbilico place were the monasteries of St. Luzi in Chur and Chur Walden wealthy. On a hill south of the village in the late 12th century the castle Strassberg, who later came to the barons of Vaz and formed the center of a small rule developed. Flows through the Toggenburg to the House of Habsburg, Malix belonged in the Three Leagues to the court Churwalden of ten federal court. 1526 was the conversion to the reformed faith, the end of the 16th century, the transition from the Rhaeto to the German language.

Economy and Transport

Formed earlier crops and livestock, the economic foundation, then Malix has developed since 1950 a popular residential community, including the convenient location between the cantonal capital of Chur and the well-known sports and leisure area Lenzerheide contributes significantly. In the town itself there were 27 jobs in the agriculture and forestry, 26 in the commercial sector and 85 in the service sector (as of 2000/ 01). On Malixer municipality is the Fontana - educational institution for the deaf.

The community is connected through the postal bus from Chur to Lenzerheide to the network of public transport.

Tourism

The tourist center of the municipality has to the 1500-1600 m above sea level. M. north-west of the village center location earlier Maiensässzone Brambruesch developed. She is since 1957 from Chur to reach quickly by cable car and offers a variety of winter sports facilities, with the ski area extends to nearly 2200 m at Dreibündenstein. The funicular was renovated in the summer / fall of 2006.

Attractions

The late Gothic Calvinist church received its present form in 1515 with netzgewölbtem choir and a pointed spire. From the castle Strassberg, the tower and the remains of the enclosure have received.
