Mallemort

Mallemort is a commune with 6208 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bouches -du -Rhône in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

Geography

The community is located between the 17 km distant Cavaillon and the 18 kilometers from Salon-de -Provence. The place is situated on the Durance, which forms the border with the department of Vaucluse.

History

In 1092 the town was named " Castro Malemortis ". In the twelfth century it was changed to " Malle Mort ". 1545 began in Mallemort the persecution of the Waldenses.

Description: In the black sign with white board, in which the place name " MAL LEM PLACE " is written in black capital letters, a white skull, hovering over the a gold two-handled right down vase, and in the sign two designated as the St. Andrew's cross white bones.
