Malpas, Doubs

Malpas is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Malpas is on 928 m above sea level, 10 km south-southwest of the town of Pontarlier (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in the Haut- Doubs, in a longitudinal depression, which is separated by a ridge from the eastern Lac de Saint-Point, south of the Montagne du Laveron.

The area of ​​5.78 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the 2 km wide longitudinal trough of Malpas, which is on average 920 m and is oriented southwest-northeast direction according to the strike of the Jura Mountains in the region. In geological- tectonic respects it forms a syncline. In a valley north of the village is the small bog lake Lac de Malpas. The area is drained by a short side creek to the northeast along the Doubs, while the southwestern part is in the catchment area of ​​the Drugeon. To the east, the municipality's area extends over the adjacent wooded ridge of the Bois du Bois and Chablay du Lac. Here the highest elevation of Malpas is achieved with 985 m.

At the hamlet of Petit Malpas Malpas part (920 m) west of the Lac de Malpas. Neighboring communities of Malpas are La Planée and Oye -et -Pallet in the north, Grangettes and Saint-Point- Lac in the east, Labergement -Sainte -Marie in the south and Vaux- et- Chantegrue in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Malpas belonged to the rule Pontarlier. Since the time of the French Revolution Grand and Petit Malpas Malpas Malpas formed the community. In 1973 merged with Malpas Vaux- et- Chantegrue the new community Vaux- et- Chantegrue - Malpas. However, this fusion community had only eleven annual bank until 1984 Malpas breaking away again and since then is an independent municipality. Since 1999, Malpas is a member of the comprehensive 19 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Mont d' Or et des Deux Lacs.

Attractions

On the southern outskirts of Malpas Petit is the three-nave church, which was built from 1726 to 1728 and 2003, the last time extensively restored. It has rich wood carvings on the inside.

Population

With 227 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Malpas is one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 185 people were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the early 1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Malpas was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially dairy farming and animal husbandry, as well as by the forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises, including a sawmill. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Labergement -Sainte- Marie to Oye- et- Pallet. Further road links exist with Grangettes, Saint-Point- Lac, Vaux- et- Chantegrue and La Planée.
