History

First mention

Malsch is first mentioned in the late 11th century in documents, in the context of a donation, the abbot of Samuel White Castle undertook. The original instrument of this process is lost, but there are two, somewhat different from each other testimonials about receive. After the note contained in the necrology of the monastery of Wissembourg it was one and a half yards in " Malsca " who were tributary to the feast of Saints Sergius and Bacchus, and other courts in " Adelbreddesuuilare " and " Bugcheneshem ". After about 200 years younger than text, the Liber Possessionum the abbot Edelin, it was one yard in " Malsche ", who had to give birth taxes on the feast. Since the former text is not only older, but also contains more detailed information, it is text critically preferable. The here used, linguistically older form of the name " Malsca " is also consistent with other early evidences of this place, are the " Malsca ", " Malska " or "villa malsc ". However, the older documentary testimony contains no exact year in which the donation Samuels took place. The frequently referred to in the local history literature in 1065 based on the much younger Liber Possessionum, the course is considered among historians as unreliable. A more stint as the term of office of Abbot Samuel, ie the years 1055 to 1097, so it is not possible not to be documented for the first mention.

Further historical development

Apart from war, famine and plague years, especially the large Croats fire inflicted great damage in 1623 the community. The largest part of the village of paint was burnt down.
