Description

The Little Irgis (Russian Малый Иргиз, Maly Irgis ) is a river in the southeast of European Russia and a left tributary of the Volga.

The Little Irgis springs near the southern border of Samara Oblast. After 5 km the river reaches the border of the Saratov Oblast. Here he turns briefly to the south until it flows to the confluence of the Tschernawa again in a westerly direction through largely semi-arid steppe. After a total distance of 235 km of Small Irgis opens into a bay of the Saratov Reservoir.

Between November and April the river is usually frozen, while in spring the majority of the water comes from melting water. The river has dried up to 305 days on large parts of its course. On the whole term of the Little Irgis is no larger settlement.
