Maly Vysotsky Island

Maly Vysotsky (Russian Малый Высоцкий; Finnish Ravansaari ) is a Russian island in the Baltic Sea at Vysotsk.

The island belonged from 1918 to 1940 and from 1941 to 1944 for Finland, between the Karelo- Finnish SSR as part of the Soviet Union and then the RSFSR and the Russian Federation.

From 1963 to 2013, it has been leased together with the Saimaa Canal to Finland.

Given this specificity was Maly Vysotsky among radio amateurs as a separate DXCC entity, separate from Russia and Finland. On 17 February 2012 entered a new contract is in place whereby since still the Saimaa Canal, but no longer the island of Finland is leased. To ensure that the radio sports special Maly Vysotsky has gone out.

Between the island and Vysotsk the narrow passage to the port of Vyborg runs.
