Mama Said (album)

Mama Said is the second studio album by Lenny Kravitz. It was published in April 1991 by Virgin Records.

On the origin

In the making of the album guitarist Slash of Guns N 'Roses was involved, the co-wrote the song Always on the Run and also played on the album, just as he was to hear the piece Fields of Joy. In addition, Sean Ono Lennon All I Ever Wanted wrote. Kravitz often quoted from the rock of the 1960s and 70s. For the first time, he managed to jump into the top 40 in the U.S.. Many funky riffs could be heard.

Success

The album reached # 39 on the Billboard 200 and platinum in the U.S., number 20 on the German charts and number eight in the UK. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic called it polished and studied as the predecessor and rated it 4 out of 5 Rezensator.de missed 6 out of 10 stars and wrote: "Overall Kravitz lays back before ordinary songs. Despite all the beautiful moments Kravitz can not completely convincing, however. "
