Mamak is a district of the Turkish province of Ankara and at the same time a municipality of Büyükşehir Belediyesi ( city municipality ) Ankara. The district is surrounded by the districts Altındağ, Çankaya and Elmadağ. There are 559 597 inhabitants who live in the center and in four villages. Mamak was declared in 1983 to a municipality ( Belediye ).

From the 308 km ² large area of almost 20% is used for agriculture, while 34 % are urban area and the forests occupy 6%. The highest point of the county is 1,503 m of Körpınar Tepesi and second of Hüseyin Gazi Dagi 1456 m. On waters there are in Mamak the river and the lake Hatip Çayı Mavi Göl which is dammed since 1966 by the Bayındır Baraji dam.
