Mamsell

A lady ( in the 18th century from French Mademoiselle, "Miss " borrowed ) was a senior maid or housekeeper. In large households, there was also specialized Mamsellen as the Küchenmamsell as head of the kitchen staff and the cold Mamsell or Kaltmamsell, which was responsible for cold food and buffets.

Initially there was " Mademoiselle " an honorable name for bourgeois girls and unmarried women, then transformed to the Occupation and is today - with the exception of Kaltmamsell in catering - no longer or only used jokingly.
