Managua Department

Managua is one of a total of 15 department in Nicaragua. The capital of the department is the city of Managua, which is also the capital of Nicaragua.

The area of the department is 3672 km ² and has around 1.4 million inhabitants ( 2006 calculation ) what / corresponds to a population density of around 384 inhabitants km ². It is the most populous department of Nicaragua.

Managua is in turn divided into nine Municipalities:
