Manangist one of the 75 districts in Nepal. It lies with its main town, Chame in the Gandaki Zone.

Geography

The 2246 km ² large district lies directly on the Tibetan border in the central Himalayas. His district neighbors are: Kaski, Lamjung, Gorkha, Mustang and Myagdi. The topography is determined by the Marsyangdi River, which originates at 5413 m high Thorong La. This pass also forms a transition to the Mustang district to Muktinath.

The Manang region has an enormous wealth of fauna and flora.

According to the census, the district had in 2001 9587 inhabitants and the population density was 4.3 people / km ².

Infrastructure
