Manarola

Manarola is a district of Riomaggiore in the province of La Spezia (Liguria, Italy). It is one of the Cinque Terre towns.

Maybe Manarola is the oldest town of the Cinque Terre, as the foundation stone of the San Lorenzo church is dated to the year 1160.

The local dialect is manarolesisch and differs from the dialects of the nearby villages. Traditionally, wine is produced in Manarola and fished. The local wine is called Sciacchetrà. Ancient Roman writings tell of this wine.
