Manchester United Football Club is a football club based in Gibraltar. He is often called Manchester FC 62, so among other tables in the Gibraltar Football Association, so no likelihood of confusion with the English club Manchester United is.

History

Manchester FC was founded in 1962 and named in honor of Matt Busby, Manchester United squad Gibraltar Football Club & Supports. The club played since its inception in the Gibraltar Division 2, from which one ascended into the Premier Division Gibraltar (GPL ) in 1974. In the first season Manchester United FC won his first championship as a climber in the GPL. It was followed by 1977, 1979, 1980, 1984, 1995 and 1999 more titles. They also won in 1977, 1980 and 2003 the Gibraltar Cup. Matthew Reoch is captain of the team since 2001. After the UEFA recognized the Gibraltar Football League in the summer of 2013, Manchester will participate as a potential master 2013/14 for the first time in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League.

After the club had worn in his story twice a sponsor names in the club Club name ( 2002-2004 Manchester United FC and Eurobet 2009-2013 Manchester United FC Digibet ), it was renamed in October 2013 in Manchester 1962 Football Club.

Stadium

The Victoria Stadium was built in 1950 under the name Gibraltar Ground. The name was changed during the talks with the GFA, UEFA and FIFA on the association of Gibraltar. The talks failed. The Victoria Stadium is still the only and also the national stadium of Gibraltar.
