Manda National Park

The National Park Manda ( fr.: Park National de Manda ) is a 1140 km ² large protected area in the region of Moyen- Chari in southern Chad. It is located northwest of the city of Sarh, its north-eastern border is the Shari, the southwestern border is the highway - Sarh, N'Djamena.

It is located in the Eastern Sudan savannah vegetation belt and is covered to 66% of bush savannah, 31% of forests and 2% of grass savannas. On Chari, there are larger flood plains are covered with large grass savannas. The rainy season begins in April and the National Park receives about 1,000 mm of rainfall per year.

Originally it was established in 1953 as a nature reserve, its status as a national park, he received 1965. The National Park was established to protect the stocks of the giant eland ( taurotragus derbianus ). The stock in the park is indeed extinct, in the westerly Goundi region but we tried to preserve nature. The populations of large mammals moving at a low level. In 1997, surveys of Avi - fauna have been created and there were stocks of Rotmaskenastrild ( Pytilia hypogrammica ), the bush sparrow ( Petronia dentata ), the Gambagaschnäppers ( Muscicapa gambagae ), the ring Stares ( Grafisia torquata ), the splendor of gloss Stars ( Lamprotornis purpureus ), the Weißaugendrosslings ( Turdoides reinwardii ), the gray cap Eremomela ( Eremomela pusilla ), the Rostcistensängers ( Cisticola rufus), the Senegal Beutelmeise ( Anthoscopus parvulus ), the black breast - furrow Schnabel ( Lybius rolleti ) and the Grünstirnspints (Merops bulocki ) are recorded.
