The mountain is located in the province of Negros Occidental in the northern Negros volcanic area, in which the Silay ( 1534m ) and the Kanlaon are to be found ( 2465 m).

The Mandalagan covers an area of ​​16 x 14 km and seven volcanic centers, including five of the larger crater with a diameter of up to 2 km.

There is an area with geothermal sources within the complex, which heats the water up to 106 degrees Celsius and up to 30 meter high geysers ejecting.

The date of last outbreak is not known, more detailed investigations are still pending.

The Mandalagan one of the core zones of the Northern Negros Natural Park, where many endangered endemic species such as the Visayan Warty Pig (Sus cebifrons ) and the Prince Alfred deer (Cervus alfredi ) live.
