The Hotel Oriental, The Oriental actually, is a luxury hotel category (5 Stars) in Bangkok, Thailand. The hotel is the "flagship" of the hotel group Mandarin Oriental.

History

The hotel's history began in 1876 when two Danish captains opened a simple inn for seafarers in Bangkok on the Chao Phraya River. The building was destroyed by fire in 1884 and rebuilt by another Danish captain. This building still stands today and is named Author's Wing (German writer - wing ) because there earlier lodged several well-known writers.
