Mandello del Lario

Mandello del Lario is a town on Lake Como in Lombardy, Italy. Mandello del Lairo has 10,599 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) at 41.77 km ² and is located at the foot of Grigna massif. The town is also the headquarters of the motorcycle manufacturer Moto Guzzi.

History

The small town was founded by the Romans and was the seat of government of the Lombards. In 603 it passed into the possession of the count's Angera. During the period of French domination of the place became an independent county. Although the city is an active industrial and craft center today, they could preserve its historic character.

Climate

Thanks to the location of the village of Mandello del Lario has a very special climate. The summer heat is cooled by three air streams. They are called Breva, Tivello and Montivo and come from the north, south and eastern Grigna massif.

Economy

Mandello del Lario is the company Moto Guzzi, Piaggio Group which belongs to the seat since 2004. This group begins on the date accruing each year losses of Moto Guzzi. The 1950 built at the factory site wind tunnel can still be seen.
