Manduessedum

Manduessedum was a Roman fortified settlement in what is now Warwickshire in England. The castle was founded around 50 to 60 AD, on the Roman road Watling Street.

It is believed that the decisive Battle of Watling Street between the Romans and the British insurgents took place under the icenischen Queen Boudicca and army leader around here. The British were defeated by the Roman general Gaius Suetonius Paulinus.

The modern Atherstone was founded near Manduessedum.
