Manfred Deckert

Manfred Deckert ( born March 31, 1961 in Halle ( Saale) ) is a former German ski jumper and local politicians.

Career

He spent his childhood in Johann George Town, where he met the winter sports and his eponymous father worked as a sports teacher at the Pestalozzi -POS. Through the years, he then visited the Children and Youth Sports School in Klingenthal, where he also the Abitur. He belonged to the SC Dynamo Klingenthal. The cross-country skier Alf -Gerd Deckert is his older brother.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid 1980 Deckert could win on points with the Japanese Hirokazu Yagi silver medal while jumping on the normal hill. His coach was the Klingenthaler Jürgen Wolf. On January 3, 1982 he won his only World Cup competition in Innsbruck. In the season 1981/1982 he won with this victory, then the overall rating of the Four Hills Tournament. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1985 in Seefeld in Tirol he won jointly with Frank Sauerbrey, Klaus Ostwald and Jens Weißflog in the team competition bronze medal.

After his playing career, he worked as a coach at SC Dynamo Klingenthal until its completion in 1990. After half a year of unemployment, Deckert worked for 17 years as an employee of a company ( Duravit ) in the heating and plumbing industry.

Since August 4, 2008 he has been drawn up by the SPD, non-partisan mayor of Auerbach / Vogtl. and member of the SPD parliamentary group of the county in Vogtland.

Manfred Deckert since August 1997 honorary president of the VSC Klingenthal.
