Manfred Geyer

Manfred Geyer ( * May 23, 1951 in Old Field ) is a former German biathlete and current coach.

He won the bronze medal with the East German relay at the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck together with Karl -Heinz Menz, Frank Ullrich and Manfred Beer. Geyer was 1976-2003 base coach of the women in Oberhof, where he paved the way to the world class, among other things, Kati Wilhelm, Katrin Apel and Andrea Henkel. From 2004 to 2010, Geyer as coach of the Swiss national biathlon team responsible for the development of Biathlon in Switzerland. He was succeeded by Steffen Hauswald. During his tenure, the Swiss men improved in the national rankings from 19th to eighth place. In many cases could top ten results are achieved with Matthias Simmen and Thomas Frei two athletes reached the podium. In women, could be performed on the advanced world-class approach with Selina Gasparin first time a biathlete. Since summer 2010 he is responsible for the biathletes of South Korea.
