Manfred Hofmann

Manfred Hofmann ( born January 30, 1948 in Great Wall City ) is a former German handball goalkeeper. For the Federal Republic of Germany Hofmann played 110 internationals. In his playing days he weighed in at 1.91 m Body Length 92 kg.

Manfred Hofmann played for the TV Großwallstadt. In 1978 he was World Handball Champion with the German national team. He stopped in the final against the USSR Olympic champion three seven meters and was so instrumental in the success. In 1979, Manfred Hofmann was handball player of the year in Germany. On March 6, 1976, he held in the Olympic qualifier against the GDR in Karl- Marx-Stadt at the registry of 8:11 in stoppage time a penalty throw, and allowed the crew of the Federal Republic of Germany to participate in the Olympic Games in Montreal. There, the team finished fourth.

He held 16 years the TV Großwallstadt loyalty and denied doing over 1000 games. On 12 June 1982 he took leave from competitive sports.

Manfred Hofmann is married and has two children. He worked until his employment as a department director at the Sparkasse Hanau to retire in February 2010. Since 2009 Manfred Hofmann has worked as a coach in the TVG Academy.
