Manfred Kokot

Manfred Kokot ( born January 3, 1948 in Templin, Brandenburg ) is a German track and field athlete and Olympic medal winner who - starting for the GDR - was a successful 100 - meter runner in the 1970s. His greatest achievement is the silver medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal with the 4 x 100 - meter relay of the GDR ( 39.43 s, together with Klaus -Dieter Kurrat, Alexander Thieme and Jörg Pfeifer ), for which he with the Patriotic Order of Merit Award Bronze.

After his athletic career Manfred Kokot was an engineer and worked at the Leipzig Central Station. Later he opened a car dealership and a motor-vehicle electrical workshop in his native Templin.
