Manfred Manglitz

Manfred Manglitz ( born March 8, 1940 in Cologne ) is a former German football player.

Career

He played from 1963 to 1971 as a goalkeeper in the Bundesliga for the first Meidericher SV, after its renaming in 1967 for MSV Duisburg and finally for the first FC Cologne. Manglitz was the first goalkeeper, the Bundesliga scored a goal. In June 1967, he met for MSV Duisburg penalty to 1:3 against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

In the national team he was active from 1965 to 1970. He participated in the Soccer World Cup 1970 in Mexico and took part with the team to third place. Manglitz was known that he hardly ever failed due to injury.

Manglitz, because of its large mouth plant also known as " Cassius ", was involved in the events surrounding the Bundesliga scandal of 1971, when he made Kickers Offenbach unique offers in terms of gameplay influence. Manfred Manglitz ended after the 1970/71 season at first his career since he was locked as a player because of corruption for life. Pardoned in 1974, he played at FSV Cleaners Cologne before 1975/76 as goalkeeper of the 1st FC Mülheim- Styrum returned again in professional football and played some games in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Later, he turned away from football. He moved circa 1975 to Spain and opened a restaurant there.

Manglitz was married before 1989 to Irma Esch, now wife of Josef Esch.
