Work

" Looking for a binding, symbolic imagery butt joins on early Christianity and the Byzantine art. He uses this traditional symbolism for his works and fills them with issues of our time. " Resulted from this its icon " Entry into Jerusalem " (1986 ), which he sent in a container on a worldwide traveling exhibition within the framework of the project " contempler ", and it varies until today.

Stumpf worked initially with the rapidographs to its clear, executed in filigree flawlessness DIN A -4 drawings. Later he developed his imagery and the computer - such as the screen saver Angeline (1994 /96) - and thus moves in " Spiritual / virtual world realities". 1987 solves stump the element of palm branch from his icon and transfers it to ten 10 -meter-high wooden objects he painted red and installed in his home instead Alsfeld in a field off the A5, as hieratic characters.

Even the donkey from " Entry into Jerusalem " performs as an independent subject a life of its own, such as on the large wall mosaic in Habsburgerallee subway station in Frankfurt am Main, where he carries including a clock, a screen or a nucleus on its back. The work compiled in 1992 shows 66 donkeys to around 200 meters of wall surface.

1997 leads stump in the Frankfurt Galerie ak a " Imitation of Christ " as a staged representation. Arising out of this action drawings are presented on the walls of the gallery.

On the occasion of the German Protestant Church Congress in Frankfurt am Main (2001 ) designs stump under the title " Super - Rio ", a 12 meter high statue of Christ that points with their arms outstretched and the title directly to the Christ of Corcovado hill in Rio de Janeiro, and which he installed on seven different " secular cathedrals " - as well as on the building of the Commerzbank and other banks. Stumpf wants with this project, " people about the power of money set" - the summit crosses should act as a "spiritual heading high above the city " and leave room for free associations about faith and religion.

2005 Stumpf realized a stained glass window for the church in winter Waldhufen box. It focuses on the " resurrection of Jesus on Easter morning ." The colors of the window " symbolize the transition from darkness to light in human life ."

2008 Stumpf is a comprehensive exhibition at the Kunstverein Montez family in Frankfurt am Main. At over 1000 square meters, he presents old and new work: drawings, paintings and sculptures.

2009 works stump - since 1995 Professor at the College of Design in Offenbach am Main - with six students on the interior design of 57 m², Christian chapel in the new building of the Hospital of Offenbach am Main.

The treatment of the line has a long history and can be traced from the Egyptian hieroglyph, the clear outlines of medieval panel paintings, the drawings of the Romantics, on the pop-art to this day.
