Manfred Wolke

Manfred cloud ( born January 14, 1943 in Potsdam -Babelsberg ) is a German Olympic champion in boxing and boxing coach.

Manfred cloud began in 1959 at the BSG Motor Babelsberg with the sport of boxing. In 1965, coached the cloud ASK Vorwärts Berlin. He was from 1967 to 1970, respectively welterweight and 1971 in the light middleweight champion GDR. In the years 1967 and 1971 he was Vice-European Champion. In 1968, Manfred cloud capped his amateur career with a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Mexico, as he gave the Cameroonian Joseph Bessala defeated in the final. In the following 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, he was the opening ceremony flag bearer of the GDR delegation, but could not repeat the previous success. Hampered by an injury to the eyebrow, he lost early in the Olympic boxing tournament to eventual winners Emilio Correa Vaillant from Cuba. Shortly thereafter, ended his active career as a boxer cloud with a record of 258 fights of which he won 236.

After studying at the German College of Physical Education, he served as coach, among others in the amateurs Rudi Fink, in the pros Henry Maske and Axel Schulz, whom he helped in amateur and professional camp to great success.

Cloud lives in Frankfurt (Oder) and trained there, among other professionals like Danilo Haussler, Enad Licina or Artur Hein. From December 2006 to March 2007 trained Manfred cloud meantime again Henry Maske in preparation for the rematch on March 31, 2007 against Virgil Hill, the mask was finally able to win.

In autumn 2009, it was announced that the boxing stable Sauerland does not want to extend the contract with cloud, so that the pro - Boxcamp in Frankfurt / Oder 2010 closed its doors.

In September 2013 Manfred cloud publicly declared in an interview to be coach of his former protégé Enad Licina again. Licina is the current number four in the IBF world ranking in the cruiserweight division and now hopes to Wolke's help to fulfill his dream of a world title.

Cloud has three children and four grandchildren.
