Manfred Zapatka

Manfred Zapatka ( born October 2, 1942 in Bremen ) is a German actor.

Biography

Zapatka is the son of an editor and a housewife. He grew up in Cloppenburg where in 1962 he graduated from high school. After training at drama school in Bochum (formerly Westphalian Drama School ), he played at the Theater Freiburg and at the theater in Essen. The breakthrough he experienced at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, as Claus Peymann hired him. As Peymann changed Schauspielhaus Bochum, Zapatka went to the Munich Chamber games. More than twenty years he was one of the protagonists of the theater of Dieter Dorn.

His first leading role was that of the pimp Heinz in Utopia by Sohrab Shahid Saless, which was shown in 1983 in competition at the Berlinale. The general public he is best known for his role as scheming Hans -Otto Gruber in the ZDF series rivals the race course (1989). Numerous guest appearances in crime series (eg EUR gear), and in particular regular roles in the series The Old Man and Derrick ensured its popularity. In Heinrich Breloer docudrama Todesspiel about the kidnapping of Hanns Martin Schleyer and the hijacking of the Lufthansa aircraft Landshut to Mogadishu he played Chancellor Helmut Schmidt. Zapatka 1989 played the lead role of Lieutenant Karl Krafft in four-car factory of the officers. This was followed by his role as Richard Maiers in the four-part documentary "The Great Bell Home " as the successor of Embodied by Mario Adorf department store giants Bell home.

In recent years, a close collaboration with the film director Romuald Karmakar has developed. Under his direction, he read a speech by Heinrich Himmler in The Himmler Project, played in 2004 in the night singing their songs, which was shown in competition at the 2004 Berlinale and 2006 in Hamburg Karmakar lessons. In addition, he was in the years 2003, 2004 and 2005 as Hagen in the Nibelungen Festival in Worms on the stage.

In the film directed by Bastian Günther autopilot Zapatka interpreted in 2007 in the role of the aging crooner Chris Kaiser written for this film by Bernd Begemann pieces Come on, Catherine and walk with me too far.

Zapatka 2004 was a member of the 12th Federal Assembly. He was nominated by the SPD and represented the state of Lower Saxony.

Zapatka now living as a freelance actor in Berlin. His first wife was the actress Regine Vergeen, he is married to his second wife Margaret since 1978. From his first marriage the children Christopher (born 1966 ) and Catherine originate (born 1970 ), from the second Fabian ( b. 1978 ) and Sarah (* 1984) and Florian (born 1966 ), whom he has adopted as a son of his second wife. His children are, or were at least temporarily, also active as an actor and in the movie business.

In 2012, he acted as narrator in radio play with Ulysses by James Joyce, which with a maturity of more than 22 hours to go longest radio play of SWR and one of the most elaborate productions of the ARD radio play.
