Manfreda longiflora

Agave longiflora is a species of the genus Agave ( Agave ) in the subfamily of the agave ( Agavoideae ). The specific epithet is derived from the longiflora Latin words longus for long ' and - florus for, flourishing ' and refers to the total size of the flowers.

Description

Agave longiflora has rhizomes of up to 6.5 centimeters in length and 2 centimeters in width. Their roots are fleshy. The three to seven (rarely to 15) lanceolate leaves are fleshy and rinnig. Systematics and distribution

Agave longiflora is distributed in the United States in the state of Texas and the Mexican state of Tamaulipas on loamy slopes, dry, gravelly hills and in the plains on sandy loam over hardened lime ( " caliche ").

The first description as Runyonia longiflora by Joseph Nelson Rose was published in 1922. Gordon Douglas Rowley presented the type 1977 in the genus Agave.

A synonym is Manfreda longiflora nomenklatorisches (Rose) Ratio - Will. (1975). Other synonyms are Runyonia tubiflora Rose ( in schedula without year, nom. Inval. ICBN article 29.1), Runyonia tenuiflora Rose ( in schedula without year, nom. Inval. ICBN article 29.1) and Polianthes runyonii Shinners ( 1966).

The species belongs to the subgenus Manfreda Manfreda, where it is the group assigned.
