Manga (band)
MaNga is a Turkish rock band. In her music is mainly a fusion of alternative metal and hip -hop with a touch of Anatolian melodies. The strong Turntable use, they can be compared with modern American nu metal bands.

Band History
MaNga was founded in 2001 and after the word for Japanese comics, manga, named. Not irrelevant here was the play on words with the Turkish meaning of manga, for here he referred to a military unit represented group. Originally, the band performed mostly " underground" and played cover versions from the rock or metal scene.
After maNga got hold second place in the music competition Sing Your Song, Sony Music became aware of it and then took it in 2004 immediately under contract. Named after themselves debut album, which was released shortly thereafter, was a huge hit. Subsequently, they performed at many music festivals and worked with nationally known singers such as Koray Candemir (of cargo ) and Göksel.
Their song Bir Kadın Çizeceksin is on the soundtrack of the 2005 appeared soccer simulation FIFA 06
Most of the songs are written by the group itself. Yağmur, the author of most of the songs, describes the genre of their music as a bit of nu-metal, rap and hip-hop, and all mixed in a pot / pan of Anatolian sounds.
At the MTV Europe Music Awards 2009 maNga have been awarded as the best European performer.
In January 2010, the Turkish broadcasting corporation TRT announced that maNga will represent Turkey at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2010 (ESC). On 3 March, it was announced that they will represent Turkey with the song We Could Be the Same. It is the first song of the band, which is not Turkish-speaking. On 27 May 2010, they contested the second ESC semi-final in Oslo and two days later reached the finals taking place. In the final of ESC 2010 maNga reached 29 May 2010 the second place.
MaNga in Europe
The first appearance of the band outside of Turkey and Cyprus took place at the Sziget Festival in Hungary on August 13, 2006. maNga is now known as Turkey's first rock band in Hungary. Furthermore, also the band gave concerts for the first time in 2006 in the Netherlands and in Germany.
On 13 April 2008, the band performed for the first time at the London Wembley Stadium, together with Tarkan. In December 2009, they have reappeared in London.
In Germany maNga occurred on the Turkish rock festival in Mannheim, Germany in June 2008. Even in the years 2009 and 2010 and 2012 gave maNga concerts in different cities in Germany.

MaNga has composed a poem appropriate to Aşık Veysel Toprak Kara music, and later wrote a completely new text for it, resulting in the well-known than Dursun Zaman song was written.
