Manhattanization

Manhattanisierung [ manhatani'zi: ʀʊŋ ] (English Manhattanization ) is a neologism which refers to the rapid vertical growth of an urban city core. It is a pejorative term was used primarily by critics of that skyscraper in San Francisco during the 1960s and 1970s, through which the view was blocked on the mountain landscape. When trying to build similar Manhattan neighborhood in large cities, this is called Manhattanisierung. The term Manhattanisierung was still used for the construction bubble in Las Vegas and Miami between 2003 and 2008, incurred in more than 50 skyscrapers in the city center.

In the context of the construction boom in Santiago de Chile, the ajar term " Sanhattan " was coined. In the Hispanic -speaking countries, the term has also been used manhattanización for the modernization processes in Madrid.
