Maniac Chase is a slapstick film from 1904 by Edwin S. Porter. The film is a direct remake of Wallace McCutcheon film The Escaped Lunatic. Both films were in 1904 at the Edison Manufacturing Company.
Movie Plot
The film shows how a man with a Napoleon complex breaks out of an insane asylum and will be prosecuted. The film finally ends up as he returns to the madhouse and reading a newspaper.
Background information
The film consists of a total of 10 scenes and is slightly shorter than the first film, The Escaped Lunatic, but almost nothing has been changed on the plot of the film.
