Dating

Previously it was assumed that Rimus, the younger brother, first ruled. An elderly king list, which was published about 2003, makes a reverse order very likely. The mention of, among Rimus introduced, exact numbers of those killed and prisoners of Naram -Sin also support the view as under Maništušu such notices are missing. The dates of the reigns of wear of the new knowledge into account.

History

The sphere of Akkad extended his time to Ashur and Nineveh, where he I. on the authority of Samsi -Adad had built the Temple of Ishtar.

So far Maništušu is the only occupied king who Magan entered in connection with a campaign and there fought against an alliance of " Men from 32 cities". He moved with his army to the " precious metal studs " before and then allowed his image of " black stone " make. The reasons for such expeditions were the procurement of raw materials. From the Magan opposite coast black stone (similar to the diorite ) introduced because this stone was needed primarily for the production of cult statues and religious objects. This material also dedicated to the god Enlil statue was made .

The most famous building of Maništušu is the black obelisk with an inscription which documented the purchase of eight plots of land with a total of 3430 hectares for 7.5 talents of silver in the northern Babylonia. Background of such purchases was the need, members of the military to reward them with land and thus increase the morale. However, such land purchases repeatedly caused many riots during the Akkadian rule. It is not surprising that his reign came to a violent end, a fate that should befall his brother and successor Rimus.
