Manna Dey
Prabodh Chandra Dey ( born May 1, 1919 in Calcutta, † October 24, 2013 in Bangalore ), better known by his nickname Manna Dey, was an Indian playback singer of Hindi film.
Life
Dey counted along with Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Mukesh of the most important Indian playback singers. He has recorded more than 3500 songs over the course of his career. In December 1953, he married Sulochana Kumaran; they had two daughters: Shuroma (* 1956) and Sumita (* 1958). Dey lived in Bangalore since the 1990s; his wife Sulochana died in January 2012 of cancer.
