Mannie Fresh

Mannie Fresh ( * in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American music producer and rapper. He became known as house producer of the label Cash Money Records, and as part of the duo Big Tymers. His productions have sold to date more than 23 million times.

Career

Mannie Fresh grew up in New Orleans, the son of a DJ. Accordingly, early music shaped his life and he started his career in 1984 as part of New York Incorporated, which is often cited as the first hip- hop group from New Orleans. He achieved fame for himself by first scene, where he hung plates. Thus he raised the interest of rapper Gregory D, with whom he soon afterwards merged and finally with his 1992 album The Real Deal published, released on RCA Records. This was indeed popular in New Orleans, but remained completely unnoticed outside the South of the United States. This also led to the end of the partnership with RCA, and also meant the end of the common musical career by Gregory D and Mannie Fresh, who parted amicably, as Mannie Fresh was dissatisfied with the treatment of major labels.

Through a mutual friend Mannie Fresh Birdman learned then know who offered him to become part of his newly formed label Cash Money Records. As a producer he wore along with Birdman himself, as well as rappers Juvenile, Lil Wayne and BG significantly to the boom of the label in the mid-1990s.

With Birdman 1998 he also founded the duo Big Tymers, which received multiple gold and platinum awards from the RIAA and was able to land some hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2004, he finally published then his first solo album, The Mind of Mannie Fresh, the placed on rank 47 on the Billboard 200 and the single Real Big contained several weeks remained on the Billboard Hot 100.
