Mano Menezes

Luiz Antonio Venker de Menezes ( born July 11, 1962 in Passo do Sobrado ) is a Brazilian football coach. From July 2010 to November 2012 he coached the Brazilian national football team.

Career

Club coach

Menezes played in the late 1970s and early 1980s as a defender for the southern Brazilian club Guarani de Venâncio Aires. But early on, he gave up the active career to work as a trainer can. The mid-1980s he was part of the coaching staff of SESI from Rio Grande do Sul, where he worked as a fitness trainer before he hired in the same position in his parent club Guarani de Venâncio Aires in 1986. At EC Juventude and Internacional of Porto Alegre Menezes gained more experience in the following years. In 1997 he became the first head coaching job at Venâncio Aires, he occupied until 2002. After a brief spell at Grêmio Esportivo Brasil, he returned soon to leave the club again in 2003 and signed with Club Iraty sport.

In the same year he moved the football coach for Clube 15 de Novembro from the southern Brazilian city of Campo Bom, with whom he reached the final of the state championship of Rio Grande do Sul, but there failed. 2004 saw the club as a surprise team to the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil.

Gremio

Between 2004 and 2005, Menezes was briefly manager of SER Caxias do Sul, before 2005 coach of Gremio became the new season. With his new club secured with the state championship of Rio Grande do Sul, the first title of his coaching career. SC Corinthians Paulista

National

In July 2010 it was announced that Menezes new coach of the Brazilian national team is. After a disappointing 2010 World Cup, he took over this post by Carlos Dunga. His successor at Corinthians was Adílson Batista.

However, Menezes was only second choice since Muricy Ramalho had held the office previously rejected. For his first international match as head coach, where he was a pause most World Cup riders and did not appeal, Menezes nominated with Victor, Renan, Jefferson, Rafael, David Luiz, Réver, Jucilei, Ganso, Ederson, Andre and Neymar eleven players that had yet been no national use.
