Manon Briand

Manon Briand ( born 1964 in Baie- Comeau, Quebec ) is a Canadian film director and screenwriter.

Life and achievements

Briand grew up in the town of Baie- Comeau. In 1981 she learned graphic design at Cégep in Montreal. At Concordia University, she studied film. In 1987 she started as a screenwriter. She wrote several short films and resulted in directing. Her work found at various award ceremonies attention, for example, they won the 1992 Toronto International Film Festival for Les Sauf conduits for Best Canadian Short Film. In 1998 she was awarded at the World Film Festival for 2 secondes into four categories.

Briand's most famous movie is the romantic drama La Turbulence of the fluid (2002) with Pascale Bussières in the lead role. In 2002 she was awarded at the World Film Festival Audience Award for best Canadian feature film. 2003 awarded to her for this film at the Prix Jutras a special price.
