Manon (film)

Manon is a film directed by Henri -Georges Clouzot, based on the novel Manon Lescaut by Abbé Prévost. Was first shown the film in 1949, the same year he was awarded the Golden Lion. Also, he received the Prize of the French Film Critics 1950.

Action

Leon Lescaut, a resistance fighter in the French Resistance falls in love with a girl, Manon, which has collaborated with the Nazis. As Manon is to be lynched by the villagers because of their connections to the enemy, both flee, first to Paris, where they are involved in criminal activities, and then on to Palestine. The rescue seems so close, but Manon dies by a bullet during a raid by desert robbers.
